Mama Melaka Grand Indonesia: Fancier Touch of Malaka Culinary.

I have always loved weekends! Especially Saturdays when I actually got a full day off my busy life and I usually just stay at home or sometimes get super rebelious and choose to get out even though I'm super tired.

Damn maturity, kinda miss childhood y'all know everything just tastes so free and carefree. Huff.

Anyways, I went to Grand Indonesia and didn't actually plan to eat anything because my mom didn't cook any food so she told us to go and find ourselves, I then asked my sister to accompany me to Grand Indonesia.

My attention was caught by this new restaurant with nice artsy deco and bright lights, and of course bright lightbox. It's this new Malaka restaurant named Mama Melaka and I'm reviewing it to you right now.

As usual, before I take you to surf the food, I'm going to take you on a quick tour of the place itself.

They use a lot of this cages for lamps and it somehow works with the original vintage sculptures and architecture Grand Indonesia has.

More flying cages!

A touch of Malaka is essential since it's the concept of the restaurant.
Don't you just love the classic good old Chinese ceramics :D.

We're being seated just at the perfect spot and perfect lighting for photos, and better than that, enjoying the meal with live view to the outersphere.

LOVE THE GLASS JARS and I think the usage of the vintage papers and handwriting is just..genius.

I just need to feel like I'm eating at an Indonesian restaurants at the 50s, well kinda hard because actually I'm in Grand Indonesia, but thanks to the deco at least I can still carried away and living pretend to live at that era.
More and more glass jars <3 <3 <3

I hope from the little tour you'll get a little picture and imagining if you're eating there.

So what did I have for my meal? Of course I'm trying their recommended menus...

Mamak Mee Goreng.
IDR 38.000 (before tax)

Just look at that picture... I"m drooling over here! Still can totally feel the taste, it's soooo yummy, it's a little spicy and the servant actually told me that the noodle is self-made. The noodle is on a great texture and very well made and...thank you for not being so stingy on the seafood.

Ok skip, I can't look anymore of the Mamak Mee Goreng pictures. They hurt my eye.

Roti Canai with Chicken Curry
IDR 25.000 (before tax)

I think it should be more like an appetizer and light bites instead of main course but this one comes second, but that's okay I am a total organized freek, I eat eventually, (exception for fine dinings which I'd love to feel the throughout process, since I pay loads of money to experience it, let's get a little lifted sometimes)

The bread? the hardest texture of Canai I've ever tried, so hard to rip off and not your common Canai bread you've probably tasted before...It was slightly not the best first impression.

BUT...!!!

I find it that the more I eat it, the better it is!
Just when you think you're going to have it plain, there goes the curry sauce, when you dip the bread in the sauce, it blends and become soooo tasty! The curry is also decent :).

but if you're going to have it without the sauce, it's going to be hard and not teeth friendly in my opinion.

 Look how it softens.

Ayam Goreng Pandan
IDR 60.000 (before tax)

The crisp of the day, well..since it's the crispiest and it's cooked very crunchily and dry, which is a good thing since I hate having oils on my chickens. I can't find the reason why it's called "Ayam Goreng Pandan". FYI Pandan is the indonesian of "Screw Pine leaves/Pandanus leaves". I can't find the flavor of the leaves, overall it's your good old fried chicken, tastes a bit unique but I kinda wish for the pandan extract on the chicken.
For the beverages, two glass of Ice Milk Tea
IDR 12.000 (before tax)
The milk tea's decent, it's fresh and fit the hot weather Jakarta has been having lately.

For the closing, sometimes all you need is a good dessert and my attention again caught by the beautiful name of "Es Kacang", simply means "Nut Ice". Nut Ice? Sounds hideous in English by the way, and don't start thinking that when you hear "Nut Ice" and it actually looks hideous as the name...boo..you're wrong.

Super large bowl of "Es Kacang"! I think you can share it with another twos.
Favorite part? The corns! The corns are like the savior of this whole dish because you basically get "sweet" everywhere and the corn's actually a little more salty so it's a good thing, another nice thing is the  vanilla ice cream. I thought the ice cream was homemade, but it wasn't. Whatever it's good tho!

To sum things up, I got them all from appetiers to dessert, and actually I think I spent a great amount of money for a very good deal.

Together we spent around IDR 200k nett for these amount of food. We obviously are very happy and full!

Thank God for the meals! One of the best things I ever thank God for! Just can't get enough for.
Thank You *wipe tears*

and also...

Thank you my lovely readers for reading.
I'm typing this with such a happy feeling? Why??? Because my article posted yesterday about the Illy Coffee is receiving TONS OF LOVE! I actually got the highest daily hits 1280 HITS IN A DAY! INSANE!!! and hopefully each and everyday the numbers can go stronger.

Promise you I'll never stop writing!

Ninety Nine (99 Cafe), Grand Indonesia.

It was just earlier today that I grabbed a late lunch session with my beloved friends at 99 Cafe, Grand Indonesia. Initially, we wanted to watch the movie 'OZ' starring the very lovely James Franco and Michelle Williams, they both looks absolutely stunning in that movie for the record, and I like that movie, you guys should watch it, too :).

99 Cafe was our choice because my friend, Corina, was craving for their super delicious Potato Cream Soup and I was craving for their delightful burger. 99 first opened its restaurant and central branch at Ranch Market Pesanggrahan (since 99 is Ranch Market's), which also is a great venue with classic interior and great vibe to be around having your lunch or dinner, if there's a chance and I happen to go there again, I will take you to join the tour, but now, let me take you to tour the 99 Grand Indonesia, they also have a very nice place, I'm eating at the bar venue, it's more like the interior part of the restaurant.

I love the venue and I've always been a fan of clean classy interior, it's just simply gorgeous in a very good way. The food itself is as beautiful as how this restaurant looks, well not only looking beautiful, but also tastes delicious, you can feel that it's made with professionalism and it's also shown from its presentation.

Potato Cream Soup
IDR 45.000 (before tax)
Probably one of the best potato cream soup I've ever tasted, it's so creamy but for my personal taste, I love it because it's not tasting very cheesy and milky, but you can see that the meat (beef) and potato kinda works together creating a yummy sensation for every bite. I totally recommend this to you my lovely readers.

Beef Prime Burger
IDR 82.000 (before tax)

This is my meal and this is obviously also one of the best burgers I've ever had in my 21 years of living (hahaha), but it does, clearly as you can see that the burger is very tall and it has a thick meat inside with two potato rings and served with a bucket of awesome fries, this meal is just perfection for me, it's obviously making me very full after I eat the whole portion and I asked for the meat to be medium well (because I think medium well is perfect for me). Aaaah I'm drooling for another portion right now (T.T). Have this for yourself, guys :)

Iced Mandarin Soda
IDR 38.000 (before tax)
Fresh orange soda drink with citrus sense and loveable moments :)

Iced Red Berries Tea
IDR 28.000 (before tax)

I just knew that there is actually a brand that's releasing tea with red berries and I mean it will make the tea looks very red and I'm going to definitely look out for this brand as soon as I stepped into import supermarket, I love this red berries tea and it's just fresh, it has reasonable amount of sourness contained, but still, I like this a little sweeter.

Iced Berry Crush Tea
IDR 38.000 (before tax)
This drink is not much different with my drink but with mint leaves, still fresh and still tasty.

We three spent almost around IDR 290.000 for all those above, I think it's pretty reasonable, I get what I'm paying, and besides, we had a  nice time of chitchat waiting for the movie here, another plus for great comfortable venue, but make sure you're being sit on the table not with the direct air conditioning, because it's super cold and freezing.

99 Cafe is so far one of my most favorite restaurant to have my lunch and dinner, you should really try it out for yourself, guys :). Have a great day!

Don't forget that tonight is another post of Culinary Journal... clue: I had a lot of blessings of great food and most of my cravings are being fulfilled this week. Praise and thank the Lord! Amen!

Since this blog is being featured in last week's CHIC magazine, I am happy to annouce and thank you all for boosting my social network followers, especially what I'm really into right now (Instagram), last week my Instagram finally passed 1k followers, well it's not really really like... a lot, but I'm just simply happy that people might pay attention for me, the foodgasms. Just kidding ;).

Marche, Grand Indonesia

I and one friend went hunting for dinner at Grand Indonesia, but I wanna try different things, something where I can eat my gorgeous meal, and in the same time having great atmosphere to feel good. Marche was the name that popped out! and yeah, I went there to have my sweet comfortable dinner and I like it when it's not that crowded.

Thank God I went to Marche during the weekdays because on weekend, this restaurant is kinda busy and crowded.

If you're not familiar with this restaurant, Marche has been there in Grand Indonesia for almost three years and its first restaurant is at Plaza Senayan. As far as I know, Marche is the switzerland/france word for 'market', the open market is the concept of this restaurant and I love how the managed to design the restaurant so beautifully without looking messy and dirty. Probably one of the best interior design of restaurant I've ever seen.

So, what's for dinner?
I had a nice portion of roasted chicken leg with baked potato as the additional.
I have always been a fan of food with a nice looking presentation, they always became a great point to my judgement of the food, well but still the taste says everything. If you're looking for something with the medium portion, this is what I recommend to you, FYI the chicken leg and the baked potato is sold differently, I need to add another IDR 15k for the baked potato, and you can also have this chicken leg with mashed potato, too! but no worries for the extra charge, I wanted to have a beautiful meal that night, and a piece of chicken leg just looks boring to me. For the sauce, they gave me the mushroom sauce.
Beef pizza!
This is super yum, I just want you guys to try it. Enough said.
Garlic bread
How do you like your bread? Crunchy? or medium crunchy? Both are nice.
I tried for the crunchy one because I've never eaten a crunchy garlic bread, I'm usual to the fluffier one. (Is the word 'fluffier' exists?) hahaha!

Pan seared vegetables, you are allowed to choose what vegetables you're going to have, and the cook will cook and serve it right to you. I love the ingedients they're using here, this is absolutely not disappointing. I also had this with risotto.
Soup of the day! Marche mushroom soup.
Two glasses of ice lemon tea. Nice.

and ass for dessert, I'm having this super duper yum slice of Vanilla Almond cake, add a little maple syrup and you'll die.

We both spent around IDR 600k, frankly speaking, you need to prepare for extra cash, everything is super tempting here, you almost can't stand not purchasing the meal. If it's your first visit, I will recommend you their famous roasted chicken leg, just like what I had that night, the mushroom soup and one drink. That's a generous amount and you're going to feel full enough, the system of payment is using the card, whatever you purchase, they will input the transaction into your card and never try to lose it because you'll be fined IDR 1 million. Even much more expensive than your own food.

Will definitely revisiting this Switzerland restaurant over and over again. I'm in love.
