Culinary Journal, 18 March-24 March 2013.

Welcome to another episode of Culinary Journal! The picture above really tells a big story, well if you follow my TWITTER or FACEBOOK you had a probability of acknowledging that my sister was having her 19th birthday yesterday :), she is like the best sister I've never asked for and I'm glad that I didn't even have to, she is such a gift and a marvelous secret keeper, even though sometimes some of mine got spilled out...humans.

So let's start the amazing adventure :).
Tuesday, March 19th 2013

Saturday, March 23rd 2012
Spent the weekend along with my lovely best friends, always the same team :). We went to Social House, yup, that restaurant with such a great ambience, but you can barely see anything because it's so 'light'.
BEST DRINK that I've tried for the whole week is this... NUTELLA MILKSHAKE, it's literally like drinking a Nutella jam, only lighter and more gorgeous. Look at those tempeting marshmallows! One thing that's such a great point is that they serve it freezing cold, like super super cold and it just adds the deliciousness over the top! Yeah I overrate this drink because this is beyond delicious.

IDR 55.000 nett.
This one is actually a lucky shot, we were being positioned at the table with the least lighting, and my friend happened to capture the meal with her tab and with flash light, a pop of flash and a luck resulting to this, well, not great, but okay picture, at least you can see my recommendation for the yummiest dessert during the week. This dessert has like 10 words of description, all that I can remember and read was 'White Chocolate and thin layer of puffs.", maybe if you're dying to try this (since it's super yummy), you can print this photo out (lol) or simply save it and show it to the servant. Not a good idea, yeah, I know.

Surprise surprise! It's my sister's birthday, we gave a little surprise :).
Cake from Cheese Cake Factory - Chocolate Delight.
and here's another treat from her friends.
On this day, I went to Ichipan-Ya and Ichidaigen Ramen to have another round of food tasting invitations, I love the fact that our connection and cooperation is going well, they have new menus to be promoted and I'm more than happy to do it, I'm going to make a blogpost for this sponsored post, but for now, let's just see the little preview :).
See you on the next post! Going to keep you guys updated and hungry...always.

Starbucks Central Park 1st fl.

Starbucks is proving to be the ultimate brand for coffee specialist and it's proven by the amount of stores they're having all around the world, its latest outlet is in Stasiun Gambir (Jakarta Pusat), got the invitation but I couldn't come to the event because I was abroad so I haven't seen the store for myself, but no worries, it's opening it's newest outlet now in Central Park 1st floor, it adds the number of Starbucks Outlet in Central Park, they already had two before, maybe different franchise owner.

This post is made to tell the good news to Starbucks lovers! Today as in March 21st 2013-March 22nd 2013 there will be a beneficial promotion! It's the buy one meal free one tall drink! I think it's a very lovely promotion and shall not be missed. I went to the store yesterday to check the venue, it might be the tiniest store but definitely not the least. It's located just beside Black Ball and accross Tous Les Jours.

Okay, I'm writing the promotions by list so you can remember it easier:
-   21st March 2013 - 22nd March 2013: BUY ONE MEAL GET ONE FREE TALL DRINK.

-   now - June 2013: BUY ONE DRINK AND ONE DRINK FREE ONE DRINK. (by Voucher given by the barista, incase the barista forgot about it, don't be hesitate to ask for the promotion).

This is what the voucher looks like:
There is another promotion that's going to be running until March 26th 2013 but the Barista said that they're told to keep it secret until today so I also had no idea what the promotion's going to be, but promotions are mostly a nice deal so you guys better go check the promotion by visiting the outlet today and get your free drink for every meal purchased :).

If you have any questions, kindly leave them at the comment section below and I'll answer it :).

Now let's have a quick tour :).

Starbucks Triple Chocolate Cake.

Went to Starbucks Plaza Indonesia today to taste the gorgeous new cake/new product they're promoting, it's the TRIPLE CHOCOLATE CAKE! (retailed for IDR 30.000). From the picture above, I know you guys are imagining the taste of the triple chocolate cake...So how was it?

I had the triple chocolate cake with a venti Iced Cappucinno, probably the best match, another drink recommendation: Caramel Macchiato or simply Iced Black Coffee.

Technically, from what I see, this cake has four layers, but maybe the name "triple chocolate cake" comes from the prime cream layers, the lowest layer is like a baked chocolate brownies with nuts. I noticed that Starbucks are using a lot of nuts for the cakes lately, from the Purple Yam Cake, Red Velvet Nut Roll, Peanut Butter Panini, but nut is a good thing, I have no problem eating a lot of nuts, well, there are controversies around the theory that eating too much nuts will cause you breakouts and then blemishes, I never experienced one before, let's leave it to the side and let the hormones decide (lol).

This cake is a yumster! I've been blessed with a lot of yum stuffs and this is obvioulsy one of the yummiest, I love the idea of using nuts as the topping, it make the cake aesthetically more beautiful instead of boring plain chocolate layer. According to the barista the toppest chocolate creme layer is made of dark chocolate, the middle: milk chocolate and the lowest: white chocolate. I tried to eat the cake little by little, layer by layer and I can't find strict difference from the dark and milk chocolate, obviously the white chocolate tastes the most different because it has the strongest milk taste.

I've been saying this for many times that texture are essentials in a dish for me because I love the different textures and flavors in my mouth, it makes the food much more interesting and the case of this dish: beautiful texture.

This is seriously not a good cake to be taken away from the freezer for maximum 2 hours because I've had the experience with the Nutella Cake from THIS POST, during the moment I took away the cake, the outlet in Grand Indonesia hasn't opened yet so the only Djournal available (nearest) is the one in SMS2 which is far and when I reach home and wanted to have it, all that I can do i was drowned in tears because the cake has turned into liquid.

Have a moment, go to the nearest Starbucks and have this for your own.
It's beautiful :).

Introducing "Culinary Journal by eatandtreats"!

If you happen to be a loyal follower of my Instagram, you must have known that I made an announcement a few days ago about this segment that I'd love to keep you guys updated each and every week, and that's why I'm introducing you guys to...

CULINARY JOURNAL BY EATANDTREATS!

Clap your hands say yeah!
So it's going to be weekly and what makes it different is that it's not going to be a full review of a venue, but it's going to be a weekly review of what food that I happened to be having in seven days, and it's going to be published in this blog every Sunday night

There are some reasons why I'm doing this:
1. We eat everyday
This is a true statement, I, you, he, she, they, everyone eats every single day, and most of you are probably having your meal right this time while reading my blogpost and this fact leads us to the second reason...

2. I'm not a food blogger, I don't have a camera, but I want to know new places and delicious food.
Yeah yeah yeah and that is absolutely why I want to make this segment, there are times when I just can't bring my camera around, but I always have my phone with me because I just can't live without it, and I do revisiting places that I've been before but I'm dying to re-having the meal because I happen to crave for it.

3. I love you
The best I can do to show how much I love my readers is to keep your guys updated with a lot of foodporns pictures and continuing my mission to make you guys hungry...even hung-reh!

So let's start our journey...
Saturday (February 23rd 2013) - Sunday (March 3rd 2013)

Photos below are sorted based on the dates.
Saturday (February 23rd 2013)
Me and my lovely high school friends gave a little surprise our birthday girl named Dinda, the cupcakes are bought from The Sugarcup, Pantai Indah Kapuk. Planning to have a full review of the restaurant, they have nice cupcakes, I recommend the Nutella Cupcake, Red Velvet and Cookies and Cream.
Excuse me that some of the cupcakes are not aesthetically good looking because you know what happen during surprises, kept them a little long inside the car, been avoiding Dinda at Plaza Indonesia, blame ourselves for that, but still, the taste of the cupcakes were YUM!

The surprised leads us to having our lunch at Zenbu, it was Dinda's treat <3.
I had this Large bowl of Zenbu Ramen, the fills are beef, chicken and ebi (tempura). I love the soup, it's not thick, it's more liquidy and watery :).
IDR 65.000 (before tax)
Trying this famous Chicken Mozaru, large portion with dynamite cheese. Gosh.
IDR 58.000 (before tax)

Second round of Dinda's treat is the night hangout at Pantai Indah Kapuk, we went to Pan & Barrell and I had these gorgeous meals to fill my belly.
Coco Berry Waffle
I like the waffle, they smell so good you can't wait to have it in your mouth.
IDR 28.000 (before tax)
French Fries
The common french fries you're usually having. Nothing really stands out or different, we were full so we had finger foods.
IDR 20.000 (before tax)

Sunday (February 24th 2013)
Happy CAP GO MEH dinner!
My mom cooked a lot of nice food and this is obviously my favorite for a long time, fried GoHiong, it's minced pork stuffed and rooled inside a tofu sheet.

Ordered this whole round of First Love Pattiserie original crepes cake, probably one of the best cakes I've ever had in my life. (One whole round + delivery fee) IDR 340.000.
Second round of dinner, my best friend, Riyan is leaving for Ning Bo to continue his study so we always have this tradition to go hangout one day before the departure just to fill our bellies as great luck LOL. We had nice steak at Joni Steak, Pasar Baroe. They have nice cheap steaks but somehow I need to criticize the servings because they had my friend's order wrong (and they repeated the order FYI) but maybe since the costumers were so floated, they're a bit confused, but for the taste, I think they have nice lovely steaks...and of course, affordable :).
Rib Eye Steak, IDR 44.000 (before tax)

Monday (February 25th 2013)
Went to Serpong to meet my supervisor for internship and taking care of some official letters etc. and meet up with my super lovely friends at Starbucks SMS.
Chocolate Croissant. IDR 16.500

Tuesday (February 26th 2013)

Went to Penang Restaurant to grab a lovely dinner with my family and I'm going to make a review of the restaurant in  a few days (I have like 10 restaurants in line to be reviewed, yeah indeed pretty busy).
Chicken Satay - IDR 28.000 (before tax).

Wednesday (February 27th 2013)

Having a date with my junior high school mates, we went eating at Sushi Tei Central Park. While I was waiting for them, I had a tall size of Iced Spearmint Green Tea at Starbucks.

Chicken Katsu Curry
Famous and delicious, not many words for this one. Yumster!
IDR 55.000 (before tax)
Chicken Teriyaki.
IDR 46.000 (before tax)
Beef Teriyaki
IDR 46.000 (before tax)

Thursday (March 1st 2013)
It's Thursday and the next day is the day  my best friend, Erik to go back to Malaysia to finish his last semester and therefore, we went eating at Holycow Steak (going to have a full review) and picture above is Rib Eye Wagyu (IDR 122.000 before tax). It's was superb, I asked for the medium well.

Sunday (March 3rd 2013)
Just a few hours ago I had a lovely dinner with my great great high school friends, we went eating at Pizza e Birra (wait for the restaurant review).

See you in another week! Stay tuned always by subscribing via email (FREE) and follow this blog :).
See you on the social networks, too ;)

Starbucks Green Tea Latte with espresso

Special thanks to again and again and again my most favorite coffee shop, Starbucks for making this post happening. Always got free complimentaries from Starbucks since I'm such a loyal client v(-.-)v.

So now I'm going to give my review of the new product/creation which is recently campaigned by them on their newest advertorial, you can see it at Starbucks stores everywhere. Well personally, I think this is not literally a new creation because Starbucks Green Tea Latte has always been a part of their menu for a long time, we could think of adding a shot of espresso to the latte but maybe some of us didn't have enough courage to do it because we didn't want to ruin the awesome original taste of the GTL (haha).

Still served with the well-designed red cup, somehow I think good design can add something special to your drinking experience.

Close up to the drink, just look at those pretty little bubbles. From the moment you open the plastic cap, you can smell a generous amount of coffee scent, well thanks to the espresso.

Taste?
I honestly love it, even though some of you might think that a green tea mixed with espresso doesn't work? well ok, let me explain it here. First things first, I love and worship coffee, I even love this more than the original GTL, I just think it adds something special and a surprise center with this creation. We didn't stuck on the plain GTL, it's great already but with espresso, I think it's even better!

After I mix it, I suddenly think that it somehow tastes almost hojicha like (roasted tea and seaweed).

And if you are not a fan of coffee, don't worry, this drink doesn't end up tasting heavy for me, it's OK and still enjoyable :).

Have you guys tasted this too? Please mind sharing your experience in the comment box. I'd love to hear it <3.

photos and editing by me.
