BELLY INC PANTAI INDAH KAPUK - JAKARTA

Went to this new eatery in Pantai Indah Kapuk a couple of days ago because I heard they provide Gyu Tan Don here and I am such a sucker of that. Talking about the food trend, Gyu Tan Don is big right now and you can easily find an appetizing looking GTD in Jakarta and it's probably near you, like this one if you live around Pluit or PIK area.

Fat Belly is located in the Ruko Crown Golf area and few shops from to the uber famous SumoBoo and the upcoming Nam Nam (yes Nam Nam is opening in Jekardah woohoo!)
I wasn't really expecting anything about this and lately I've been trying not to, whenever there are new places opening, all I want to do is to go there and eat, it's true that sometimes I can't help pre-judging certain places' quality from the venue and there has been quite shockers lately if you follow my blog. What's so beautiful could end up not so appetizing, what's really humble could be the most spectacular, nope I won't name names, you read and you know.

Belly Inc. didn't have the most spectacular venue, it's just very simple and very proper. Not much going on with the detailing and deco but they do have separated area for smokers located at the outer area with two medium-sized tables and the second level. The venue itself wasn't spacious hence the capacity's not ultra.
The food menu here is pretty much casual meals with mixed genre, so you can find Asian and Western food here with very affordable prices! The Asian menu also feature traditional Indonesian street food like noodles, fried rice, meatball soup (bakso) or fritters (bakwan). The range price of the food here starts from IDR 25k-IDR 150k. I assume for two, generally you can spend IDR 100k-150k (but still depend on what you're ordering).

I forgot the name but this one you should try (at least show the picture to the waiter). I love how refreshing this was with lovely balance of sweetness and a good hint of sour. Fruity and sort of addicting!

THE FOOD! Everything you see is goodness goddess!

Fried Mushroom with Salted Egg
IDR 30k
This was a bloddy good appetizer! The mushroom coated with batter then deep fried with salted egg dressing. They were cooked perfectly leaving the inner part to still be juicy. The salted egg coating was flavorful but not overpowering. MUST TRY.

Gyu Tan Don
IDR 85k
Just when I looked at this on the menu Gyu Tan Don (GTD) I knew I must order. What's really the high point of this dish was how generous they are with the ox tounge! They were much and cooked beautifully. Flavor wise, it's heading the sweet taste instead of savory and it's rich in a good way. If they could make the overall to be a little dry and less "wet", this would be even better.
Tak Tik Tuk Noodle
IDR 25k
Tak Tik Tuk Noodle is their take of simple fried noodle, but I have to give a credit for this one because this was freaking good. Simple yet very flavorful with incredible seasoning. Couldn't seem to find a way to describe it, you better try.

My take on Belly Inc: simply a restaurant in the most literal way. They're not fancy with this and that, everything is simple, right on point, proper and probably not your typical hangout spot. The food here (based on my visit) was good with minor personal preference. I love how smartly brave they're with the seasoning, meaning the flavor is quite there yet but not overpowering the palate.

Simple yet humble but quite impressive. Sometimes it's better this way!

Please keep this or keep up the overall performance!!! Please! I give you good review so next time I won't be hearing people leaving comments saying that my review is overrated *shoot*. I am coming back for more in store! GOOD LUCK BELLY INC!

NORTHPOLE CAFE PANTAI INDAH KAPUK JAKARTA

Say hi to Northpole!!! The newest dessert joint in Pantai Indah Kapuk!

Specializing in sweet treats such as ice cream (the creations) and gelatos, this place is guaranteed to be the upcoming 'hip' place for sweet tooth and dessert lovers. Northpole is located align with its famous neighbor, Shirokuma but comparing those two is nonsense since they're selling completely different stuff.

The venue was designed in such a minimalist setting with a little touch of sophisticated here and there, the whole area is separated to the semi-outdoor and indoor area. I of course prefer sitting outside because of the direct access to the daylight for the picture taking purpose. For some reasons, the ambiance of the indoor and outdoor is quite different. The outdoor area had this wood furniture set, it's just such a bliss for the eye when you look at the an area painted in white, featuring wood and natural daylight! EYEGASM MAX! The indoor area was very simple and proper just like the typical cafes, only they have catchy couches! The indoor area is also the gelato display area and hereby you can choose your favorite gelato from the 10 displayed! Rumor has it that they're expanding the flavor range!
I tried the Bailey's and it was pretty decent even though I expected for the bolder alcoholy flavor! The texture of the gelato was very smooth tho!
Just like Bailey's, Ferrero is NEVER wrong!

Hot Latte
IDR 27k
The application of icons to represent a company or a restaurant is commonly used in the nowadays' scene and Northpole is not an exception. They have three different icons of Siberian Husky (which by the way is my favorite dog's breed), they're just too handsome and cute to handle! The three icons were Coco (the black Husky), Walf (the brown Husky) and Cream (the grey Husky). The picture you're looking at is the Hot Latte with Coco's face as the latte art. I loved the presentation and that cute white cup!

Smoky Pan
IDR 68k
This "Smoky Pan" is their signature creation and presentation for this establishment. First of all, no it's not hot smoky, I think you're smart enough to know that the smoke is actually the reaction between the dry ice and the water. In the portion, you're going to have six different homemade ice creams served on the dessert plate and accompanied with one topping (fruity pebbles) and whipped cream (on request). The ice creams flavors range from the creamy to the fruit based like Thai Tea, Cookies Berry, Bubble Gum, Chocolate Lemon, Lemon sorbet and Cherry. I was super fond of the Thai Tea, Cookies Berry and the Lemon Sorbet. Loving the Thai Tea flavor because it was very unique and the other two for the touch of sourness to it. The texture of the ice cream was soft, smooth but the character of the flavor was quite bold and rich. Me love!

The case when it's not only sweet looking, but the impression was pretty sweet as well!

As long as they still have it, you can actually request for the color of the pans! They have pink, blue, yellow, violet and green.

Colorful spoons!

CREAMY POT CREATIONS
Electric Lemon
IDR 39k
Presentation wise... cute! How about the flavor then? Well not as sweet as how it's seen because in fact this dessert was pretty sour, but still cute tho... sour kind of cute! Inside you're going to find the lemon sorbet with toppings like deconstructed cheese cake, corn flakes, popping candy and crumbs. When I mentioned that the lemon flavor was sour, it's actually the addicting kind of sour flavor, yes, a little awakening but overall, quite fresh!

Salted Caramel
IDR 37k
Still from their "Creamy Pot" series, this one was another kind of it. The Salted Caramel creamy pot consist of salted caramel ice cream with milk pudding, corn flakes, crumbs and caramel popcorn. Must admit they're using good quality popcorns and one whole scoop was this burst of flavor (mostly creamy and dominated by the salted caramel ice cream) and a play of texture from the flakes and crumbs!

Fruit Loops Cone
IDR 15k
For 15k this was honestly the best deal! If you notice the cone with the fruit loops looking so cute right there, well they can be. I think they're using melted marshmallow to stick the loops together and stick them on the cone and what a freaking life hacks, they stick pretty strong! Normally the serving came with one scoop of mango ice cream and the mango flavor was one of my favorites because the flavor is rich and natural (they claim to use real Mango in the production process) and again, smooth texture. It's actually a very simple idea, but having the ice cream with the fruit loops was actually pretty yum!

Chick Affogato/Affogatea
IDR 35k
They also came with another cute dessert and they're naming them the Chick Affogato/tea! As you all probably know, the affogato means that they're using espresso shots to accompany the chick shaped vanilla ice cream scoops and on the other hand, the affogatea was using the Thai tea (not Thai milk tea) as the company. This was my first time having Thai tea as the "syrup" and I was actually loving it, but you have to have them all together because the Thai tea was very bitter. I found that I was liking it better than the good old affogato.

Left: Ferrero Waffle Pop (IDR 42,5k) // Right: Enjoy Your Beer (IDR 39k)
The highlight of the Ferrero Waffle Pop must be the crushed Ferrero Rocher! I stated earlier that Chocolate, Ferrero and Bailey's just never turn wrong and indeed reflected nicely on the desserts here. Presentation and composition I also love! The waffle stick was semi-crispy but nowhere near soggy! The other condiments were corn flakes (they used a lot of corn flakes btw), Vanilla ice cream and chocolate.

The "Enjoy Your Beer" was actually their alcohol creation and made from real beers! Funny thing about the presentation was that they actually served the ice creams with peanuts, just like the bars where you have actual beers with snacks. I didn't think the peanuts did anything impressive to the flavor, it's just the matter of presentation, but the impression I got was CUTE!

In conclusion, I honestly think Northpole serves yummy ice creams or the ice cream creations! In just weeks I noticed several cafes in PIK (and I believe more) is coming to try their luck on the cold serves but so far, humbly and proudly admitting it, I think Northpole so far serves the best ice cream in PIK with good price and without leaving you feeling ripped off (at least I didn't). Good luck with this venture of yours! My impression was good, probably just the little minor here and there but it's fixable! In days, more customers are coming and keep up the good service and quality!

WARUNG SANGRAI PANTAI INDAH KAPUK JAKARTA

Went to this newly opened humble restaurant for lunch yesterday (not so humble anymore when you actually open in PIK) and I couldn't help not blogging about this because the experience was just good, okay, so far I have been spoiling what supposed to be the 'surprise' on each of my entries! As I am typing this, they're currently 5 days old, so it's very very new.

Warung Sangrai has been quite famous in Bandung (located in Jalan R.E Martadinata, Riau) for quite some time and they are one of the first to pioneer quails as the main menu on a single restaurant! The decision to open in Jakarta is just genius (keep reading to know why). Warung Sangrai PIK is quite easy to reach, it's located near the trending Shirayuki and the outlet was quite catchy as well, just pay attention to the logo on the photo above and you're on the right place.
The restaurant was this medium-sized interior and the design was very simple and proper for a casual restaurant, knowing that I am having quails and I mean Indonesian food in general, I just like the humble atmosphere of the restaurant, just perfect for quick simple meal with friends and family.
Since they're specializing in quails then you're going to find a lot of their signature quail creations and I happen to try MOST OF THEM! They provide two options for the quails: local and French and as expected, the French birds are BIGGER! HAHAHA I am literally talking about birds, not those birds in your mind you perverts! The quail creations range from the sweet to the very spicy ones and beware, the very spicy ones could burn your palate and I got mine </3, but if you enjoy very spicy stuff, you're gonna love it guaranteed!

Since Indonesian food is very related to rice and veges, rest assure as they provide white and brown rice (normally I go for brown for no specific reasons, it's just the less-guilt feeling) and condiments like fried tofu, vegetables, cauliflowers and many more!

For the beverage, their signature but not-so-signature drink is the Monster Ice Tea which actually the regular ice tea served in huge glass but for IDR 7k (iced), it's a freaking good deal.

Es Cincau (Grassjelly ice)
IDR 20k
As simple as this drink was, I actually liked it very much because it could be the ultimate thirst quencher and heat-reducer. It's basically grass jelly over ice, water and pandan syrup. Refreshing!

Strawberry Dinosaurus
IDR 22k
The strawberry flavor dominated the overall taste of this beverage, I suggest you asking for more ice because it's better to have it when it's colder.
Milo Dinosaurus
IDR 22k
I think everyone knows that Milo is good, but personally I have not been a huge huge fan of Milo ever since I was little and this is basically a Milo chocolate drink with Milo and that's it. I didn't find this anything special.
The overall view of the food I had that day! I know I know, me and my friends were such crazy baboons! FYI we just had lunch right before coming to Warung Sangrai and we could already hardly breathe. After this I honestly felt like the quails were stuck in my goddamn throat!

Sarang Komplit
IDR 13k
Fried tofu, fried soyabean cake, cauliflowers and cucumber.

Tahu Cabe Garam (Deep fried tofu with chili and salt)
IDR 13k
This was one of my personal favorites! I love their idea of using the batter and deep fried them together with the tofu resulting this soft and gooey coating. They intended to make the flavor slightly saltier because it's meant to be eaten with rice, but honestly, wasn't a big deal for me.

Cah Kuciwis
IDR 13k
Stir fried cuciwis with chicken. Seasoning was light but the cooking process was awesome resulting a quite flavorful dish. Love!

Kol Goreng (Deep fried cauliflower)
IDR 8k
Unexpectedly, one of the highlights of the lunch was this incredible Kol Goreng or deep fried cauliflowers! It was seasoned beautifully and for some reasons, I noticed the wok-hei aroma and it lived up the overall flavor. This was simply genius and since I loved it so much, they deserve a special tone (edited with VSCO), no actually I was too lazy to re-transfer the photos and re-edit them HAHA!

Tahu Gerus Pedas
IDR 13k
This was another delicious condiment, even though technically it's just fried tofu mixed with chili but there's something decent about the mixture of this, oh bloody Indonesian food I love you!

I mentioned that they have two base for the quails (local and French), for the local it's IDR 19k per piece and IDR 29k for the French quail, and after you select the quail then you proceed to opt for the level of spiciness! They have 7 levels of spiciness and Extra Rawit is the spiciest, followed by Rawit, Sambal Endeus (Soy sauce spicy), Cabe Garam, Cabe Ijo, Gocap and Original. There will be another IDR 3k charge when you choose either Extra Rawit, Rawit and Sambal Endeus, IDR 2k for Cabe Garam, Cabe Ijo and Gocap and none for the original. I tried the Rawit one and for me, that's freaking spicy, even though it's a little burning, but it's the good tasty kind of spicy! My favorite one has got to be the Sambal Endeus because there's a the sweet and spicy flavor in a portion!

Judging from the original quail, the texture of the chicken was still tender even though they're not entirely crispy, the seasoning was lovely and there's this signature scent of the fried quail remembering me of fried pigeons, but most importantly, they're YUM!

Puyuh Original (Original Quail)
This was the most neutral one and the chili was actually separated, making it the perfect option for those who don't desire spicy stuff.

Puyuh Cabe Garam
Moderate spiciness, enjoyable!
Puyuh Sambal Endeus
My favorite one, loving the perfect mixture of the spicy and sweet flavor! Dayum!
Es Sarang
IDR 19k
For IDR 19k, the portion was HUMONGOUS! This was actually a portion of ice jelly with milk, quail jellies and selasih seeds. The milk flavor wasn't crazy strong and overpowering my palate. I think I overused the word "simple" here but it's again, simple but very good!

Pisang Tusuk Milo
IDR 15k
Short to say, this was grilled banana skewer with milo and chocolate condensed milk, but this simple dessert could be the sweetest and most comforting thing! I love everything about it!!! They managed to use the fresh and sweet banana and since they're grilled, there's this little sensation of glazed caramel flavor mixed with the Milo chocolate flavor and the condensed milk.
An Instagram photo I uploaded yesterday.
I was quite impressed with everything that I had for lunch, even though me and friends was quite dying after a huge portion of meals, but we still managed to finish everything and we were VERY HAPPY! I highly recommend you guys going to Warung Sangrai, it's the perfect spot for you guys to have lunch during lunch break. Price wise, very affordable, I think the most expensive one here is only IDR 34k, you barely spend IDR 100k for two...or three.

The most simple things could be the best and most comforting. Thank you for the amazing experience, Warung Sangrai. Best of luck!
