Ismaya Catering Co. Jakarta

Got invited to try out some of Ismaya Catering Co's newly launched menu and this post is going to be the respond to the meals! *heartbeat*. As you can probably tell from the name and in case you're wondering... YES IT IS one of many Ismaya group's ventures. The concept of the dining here is pretty much more casual, more humble and in a sense more affordable if you compare it to Kitchenette or Pizza E Birra.

Enough yakking: PHOTOS!

Just like any other case of the indoor dinner: yellowish photos! Took more time editing the photos rather than writing the whole entry -.-".

Nachos with Beef Chili Con Carne
IDR 45k
This particular meal is one of the new joints to the appetizer family, overall I was pretty fond of the flavor, the nachos were still crispy, the beef chili sauce was pretty generous and pretty spicy but not biting hot! The serving came with three dipping sauces: Guacamole, Sour Cream and Salsa. My favorite one gotta be the Salsa because it was pretty decent with proper sourness while the Guacamole needed a little work on the texture and the seasoning (a little too puree for me) and the Sour Cream was just okay.

Mexican Cheese Quesadilla
IDR 48k
Frankly speaking, I wasn't expecting the flavor to be sensational or even anywhere near 'great' because of the plain look but surpisingly this came as suprise, it was pretty good and...addicting! The Quesadillas were pretty good in texture and consistency, the filling was also quite generous, inside you'll find melting cheese, mushrooms, onions and paprika. Paired this with the Salsa sauce and it was even better, it got that kick of sourness.

Nasi Goreng Kecombrang
IDR 45k
Kecombrang or "Torch Ginger Flower" is a flower plant that's mostly being used as perfume to the ingredients and meals. It's also being used in Indonesian traditional dishes like Gado-Gado. I thought the amount of Kecombrang given to the rice was perfect already, personally I don't like a stronger kick that what I had on the night, only I found the rice to be soggy and mushy, long grain rice would probably be a better kind for this particular fried rice (also condering the flavor character). However, this was served spicy but overall seasoning was pretty good.

Sunny Side Up with runny center! Dayum!

Soto Tangkar with Jasmine Rice
IDR 45k
One sip of the soup and I noticed that the soup was just a little salty for my liking but I know one cure: SWEET SOY SAUCE! Gave a little plus additional chili, then voila... a nice portion of Soto Tangkar for myself! The soup was on a nice state of consistency, not overwhelming creamy and thick but not too watery either, just nice. The beef slices were pretty generous and tender.
This kind of rice was a better match for soup courses instead of 'fried rice'.

Molten Chocolate Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream
IDR 40k
The good old chocolate lava cake, pretty good, but honestly, I didn't find this as anything special, it's just the common dessert, for new menu launching, I think Ismaya should find and create creations braver, unique but with more character than this.

Virgin Apple Mojito
IDR 35k
Ironically, even though this was as simple as an apple mojito, but I found this to be really good and refreshing. The sourness and the sweetness blended perfectly, one good old with impressive taste.

Red Melon Berry Refresher
IDR 35k
It was slightly more unique than the Virgin Apple Mojito, but I guess the watermelon flavor happened to dominate the whole drink, yes it's fruity but I think a more proper flavor balance from the two fruits could potentially made this nicer.

Overall, most of the courses presented were pretty good, especially the appetizers! Had a great dinner and chit chat with some other fellow bloggers! I love hanging out with people who share the same sins (read: fats), and unforgivably share the love for eating!

THANK YOU ISMAYA CATERING CO!

Shoo for now, me goin to bed!

Best Kitchen "ette" Senayan City!

A few days ago, I finally reunite again with my friends from the University, we're currently at this state where we don't meet very often (some haven't even met from sixth semester), considering that this is a phase of life that we're eventually going through, do not worry! As long as you still have mobile phones and the holy social networks, you can always set up a meeting <3.

I'm currently interning at Kompas.com which is located in Palmerah Selatan and most of my friends also work around South Jakarta and my office is super close to Senayan City so, there it is... the venue of the meeting, we went for lunch and our hearts fall for Kitchennete Senayan City!

First impression (also a round up): BEST KITCHENETTE WITH OUTDOOR SEATING, Technically, Kitchenette outlets don't have any outdoor seating (the ones in Plaza Indonesia and Central Park you can't consider so), so this is the one where you can enjoy a nice day view like I did. So let me take you for a quick tour.

I love the usage of white color for the outdoor mixed with the colors of the leaves (even though they're artificial), the outdoor area is not technically super large, perfect for 20 people but it's totally more fun and different, they also have their signature indoor-live-kitchen-restaurant-design if you prefer indoor seating.

they also have a mini bar, not sure that if you can sit there or it's just part of the design, I assume it's probably a place for the beverage production.
won't be sitting here even though it's pretty, it tends to get very hot, especially I sweat very easily.

I abuse the bar area, I love the vintage touch, me such a vintage-freek!

Anyway, I want you to meet my friends :)

left to right: me, Stefanie, Andreas and Clarisa :)
look at that beautiful background <3.

What did we order for lunch?

Stefanie, Andreas and Clarisa ordered the same thing. Turkey Bacon Mac and Cheese.

*aesthetically beautiful
You know me, not a big fan of cheese, but it tastes lovely actually, the cheese is strong but I still can tolerate this one, I love the simple presentation. It's beautiful <3.
IDR 69.000 (before tax)

I order something different than the others, this is my dish:
Kitchenette's John Dory Fillet with tomato and spinach.
IDR 79.000 (before tax)

I love this food! The fillet is so smooth, it's fried very beautifully and the tomato sauce is fresh, I think this one is perfect for lunch :).

Together we spent around IDR 360.000+ (after beverage)

Sadly we only have one hour to chit chat (kinda wish for more), but I left with a happy belly and happy feeling.

Meanwhile in Senayan City...

The feeling of Easter is still warm.

Have a great day everyone! kthxbuhbbye!

DJOURNAL COFFEE, Summarecon Mal Serpong 2

The highly anticipated coffee shop is now opening in Summarecon Mal Serpong 2, it is another invention from the food and beverages empire Ismaya group, well for me, personally, everytime I am aware that Ismaya group is the background of the restaurant or the venue, I know it won't be disappointing, but how about now? I'm going to give the review based on the two recommended menu by the baristas: iced caramel macchiato and nutella cake.

NUTELLA CAKE
Can I just conclude this? I worship the Nutella cake, I think it's a very succesful invention and I love how the softness of the creme layer blends with the chocolate sponge cake and the nutella itself, my most favorite part would be that crunchy layer underneath the cake, it totally gives a nice contrast to the meal and I lvoe the fact that even though it's stereotypically chocolate, but it isn't too sweet. MUST TRY!

It is retailed for 28.000/slice - before tax.

ICED CARAMEL MACCHIATO
This is the second attempt of the anticipated coffee shop's product, so does Ismaya happen to disappoint or indeed please the costumers? AGAIN. YES IT DOES. This caramel macchiato is a total to foe to Starbucks' original iced caramel macchiato. For me, Djournal's CM tastes lighter than Starbucks, maybe since I'm using non-fat milk, but I just love how the caramel really blends with both the coffee and milk. My perception of a great coffee is when you feel like it's a total friend with your tounge and you don't have that strong stink almost acid like that left over from every sip. This is a total delightful coffee drink, you need to try. I was wondering about making comparisons of both the products since for me, this is the best two. Stay tuned for the upcoming posts.

Retailed for 40.000 (large cup) - before tax.

Hey it's me... sorry for the panda eyes, today I'm just done with my exam weeks and I've been having super lack of sleep lately, but tonight will be a revenge.

If you haven't been here, I suggest you walk over here and have those two that I gave review at, I can guarantee an amazing coffee experience in a slightly comfortable venue. I'm kinda excited about the one at Grand Indonesia, but it isn't open yet.
