Photo Diary: Jakarta Culinary Passport 2013

Jakarta Culinary Passport was such a successful event! Over 10.000 people, (yes that's a 5 zero) visited the event that was held on September 12-15th 2013. This entry will be a photo diary of the event. The team gave me five complimentary tickets for the show but since this week has been sick-busy for me, I could only make it on the last day.

In a nutshell, I am very happy for the success of this event! I loved the concept ever since I start noticing the pre-opening. I love the fact that they're mixing local and international culinary scene into a festival of fun. On top of that, cooking demos to make everyone educated and informed.

Let's start the photo roll! Let's start with the local cuisine <3.

Cotton Candy a.k.a Permen Kapas

Gulali or whatever you named it, used to be my favorite candy!!!

Purchased one box of Kue Cubit for IDR 15k only and it's one of the moistest Kue Cubit I've had so far, I even left it out for 3 hours and they still tasted fluffy.

LOLLYLAND!
Lollyland must be my favorite area since I am such a freaking sweet tooth. I did most of my shopping here!

Gingerman to greet you!

Milky Way was one of the most crowded queue I've seen so far. They're selling Caramel Pudding in a bottle which by the way looked absolutely pretty.

Dairy Tale sold gorgeous tiny cakes. I purchased the Green Tea tart and it was soooo freaking good. Loving the rather strong green tea essence and the fluffy side dough. I wanted to try the Nutella but I was so full and I already purchased a lot so maybe I can purchased it somewhere online LOL.

The Turkish ice cream seller who look more like an eastern looking actor. My friend, Aline, was drooling over him LOL.

What I purchased from the event?
Milky Way Pudding's Choco Caramel
IDR 18k
I think 18k is still a reasonable price for this bottle of joy, not to mention you'll get another deal if you buy more. If you love the milk-ish pudding flavor, then this one might be perfect for you. I kinda wished that the chocolate flavor would be stronger because the caramel syrup is more dominant, but no worries, when you mix everything, you start to get the more balanced touch of flavor.

PUYO Silky Dessert!
IDR 9k/each, 80k for ten.
Loving the light flavor of this dessert, it's totally a light bite that comes in a handy size. Gotta love 'em, I think I am pretty much fond of most of the flavors, but my favorite one must be either Peach or Taro. If you love a stronger milk flavor, then you'll probably go with Milky Way, but both has the plus and minus and I simply fond of both of them!

FYI, Puyo's probably the most crowded booth I've seen so far from the event, it was such a good business damn it. Congrats! :)).

Danbii's Nutella Cake
IDR 40k
If you're looking for a moist cake, then this might not be the one for you. I thought the cake would be sort of mousse like instead of sponge, but that doesn't completely let me down because the fact is, the usage of Nutella on this cake is just freaking insane! You can hint a very strong Nutella flavor and that's simply heaven! It's very chocolate-rich and I still find the sweetness fine for me.

I also purchased this thing called "Rendang Tabur" and a piece of Green Tea tart from Dairy Tale but when I carried it around, the cake broke and it turned very ugly looking, but the flavor remains very good. Recommended.

I hope this kind of event will be held each and every year. My suggestion is simply the merrier decoration to each section to live up the ambiance of the event and please, more local cuisine booth, let's preserve the local culinary scene! Overall, for its first year, this event was a success and I'm surely going back next year. Bravo! Much love!!!

The New Magnum Cafe at Grand Indonesia

If you're a chocolate worshipper then you must be familiar with this cafe. It has been an ongoing phenomenon for years ever since it's being released two years ago. The hype of this cafe is still pretty much on top and no wonder because they're serving chocolate, in which I bet, most people love!

Well I gotta admit, one of the many reasons they're surviving is definitely their lovely creations and great chocolate dishes, Magnum chocolate ice creams are made using belgian chocolates (which I love to death) and Magnum cafe is a one unique factory that "manufactured" those chocolates ice creams into a unique yet mesmerizing dishes.

Beware to be visually diabetic!

Waffle de Aristocrat
IDR 45k
My regular order everytime I visit this, I don't even have to look at the menu. I am very fond of the caramelized banana and the waffles, I think they're very moist, must be cooked in a parfait temperature. The waffles are denser, balanced sweet and chewier. Another reason to love this is because I love the idea of using vanilla ice cream to this dish, I am a sweet tooth but when it's overloaded, I must raise the flag. This one is definitely recommended.

Wafel de Liege
IDR 45k
This is on the same range as the "Wafel de Antwerp" displayed below. Just different fruit sides and ice creams. Wafel de Liege's using strawberry and vanilla ice creams, while Wafel de Antwerp's using cherry compote and chocolate ice creams. Both of them are nice to me but I am still more fanatic with the Waffle de Aristrocrat.

Wafel de Antwerp
IDR 45k
Wafel de Antwerp's using chocolate ice cream sticks and cherry compote sauce. Cherry compote sauce is awesome!

Pepites du Chocolat
IDR 45k
On presentation, I personally think this one is the simplest, but it has a very great texture thanks to the crunchy cookies topped with chocolate sauce, yet the chocolate sauce tastes sort of caramelish, which is good! Watch out for their impressive strawberry sauce. I love a little touch of sourness.

Frozen Chocolate
IDR 40k
Belgian chocolate smoothies, that's how I describe it straight to the point. Inside the drink you'll find a hint of extra belgian chocolate sauce. This one is also declared as one of their best sellers, yeah no wonder because the chocolate is very rich but I don't think the sweetness overpowers me so it's a really positive thing. Sometimes, literally, very sweet flavor can be stressful and paranoid in mind. Good job for this one.

Belgian Snow
IDR 35k
If you're a fan of Melon then I'll recommend you to have this. When I paid a visit, I was sort of lucky because the beverages I happened to try were very balanced in sweet, the same thing happening to this beverage :).

Blueberry Emporium
IDR 35k
I'd recommend this one whenever you visit here and wanting to try their beverages. This is not very sweet and this one is also fresh, there's a little glimpse of sourness from the blueberry, overall I am very fond of this beverage!!! and plus it looks dead pretty <3.

Short to say, most food they're serving here are sweet desserts and yes they're made out of chocolate or at least has a little touch of chocolate. Most desserts here are priced for IDR 45k. I'd recommend something sour like lemon ice tea or neutral like water to reduce those feelings after you've been eating tons of chocolate dishes. Trust me, you know what I mean.

Overall, it's always been a nice experience visiting Magnum Cafe!!! Will I come back? Hell yeah! Even though I've tried most of their menus. Maybe I'll start trying their main courses in the future. And oh, make sure you come here a little early or on weekdays because the queue line is freakin crazy during weekends!

Thanks for reading lovely peeps <3. I am obviously visually diabetic right now.

Ninety Nine (99 Cafe), Grand Indonesia.

It was just earlier today that I grabbed a late lunch session with my beloved friends at 99 Cafe, Grand Indonesia. Initially, we wanted to watch the movie 'OZ' starring the very lovely James Franco and Michelle Williams, they both looks absolutely stunning in that movie for the record, and I like that movie, you guys should watch it, too :).

99 Cafe was our choice because my friend, Corina, was craving for their super delicious Potato Cream Soup and I was craving for their delightful burger. 99 first opened its restaurant and central branch at Ranch Market Pesanggrahan (since 99 is Ranch Market's), which also is a great venue with classic interior and great vibe to be around having your lunch or dinner, if there's a chance and I happen to go there again, I will take you to join the tour, but now, let me take you to tour the 99 Grand Indonesia, they also have a very nice place, I'm eating at the bar venue, it's more like the interior part of the restaurant.

I love the venue and I've always been a fan of clean classy interior, it's just simply gorgeous in a very good way. The food itself is as beautiful as how this restaurant looks, well not only looking beautiful, but also tastes delicious, you can feel that it's made with professionalism and it's also shown from its presentation.

Potato Cream Soup
IDR 45.000 (before tax)
Probably one of the best potato cream soup I've ever tasted, it's so creamy but for my personal taste, I love it because it's not tasting very cheesy and milky, but you can see that the meat (beef) and potato kinda works together creating a yummy sensation for every bite. I totally recommend this to you my lovely readers.

Beef Prime Burger
IDR 82.000 (before tax)

This is my meal and this is obviously also one of the best burgers I've ever had in my 21 years of living (hahaha), but it does, clearly as you can see that the burger is very tall and it has a thick meat inside with two potato rings and served with a bucket of awesome fries, this meal is just perfection for me, it's obviously making me very full after I eat the whole portion and I asked for the meat to be medium well (because I think medium well is perfect for me). Aaaah I'm drooling for another portion right now (T.T). Have this for yourself, guys :)

Iced Mandarin Soda
IDR 38.000 (before tax)
Fresh orange soda drink with citrus sense and loveable moments :)

Iced Red Berries Tea
IDR 28.000 (before tax)

I just knew that there is actually a brand that's releasing tea with red berries and I mean it will make the tea looks very red and I'm going to definitely look out for this brand as soon as I stepped into import supermarket, I love this red berries tea and it's just fresh, it has reasonable amount of sourness contained, but still, I like this a little sweeter.

Iced Berry Crush Tea
IDR 38.000 (before tax)
This drink is not much different with my drink but with mint leaves, still fresh and still tasty.

We three spent almost around IDR 290.000 for all those above, I think it's pretty reasonable, I get what I'm paying, and besides, we had a  nice time of chitchat waiting for the movie here, another plus for great comfortable venue, but make sure you're being sit on the table not with the direct air conditioning, because it's super cold and freezing.

99 Cafe is so far one of my most favorite restaurant to have my lunch and dinner, you should really try it out for yourself, guys :). Have a great day!

Don't forget that tonight is another post of Culinary Journal... clue: I had a lot of blessings of great food and most of my cravings are being fulfilled this week. Praise and thank the Lord! Amen!

Since this blog is being featured in last week's CHIC magazine, I am happy to annouce and thank you all for boosting my social network followers, especially what I'm really into right now (Instagram), last week my Instagram finally passed 1k followers, well it's not really really like... a lot, but I'm just simply happy that people might pay attention for me, the foodgasms. Just kidding ;).
