The New Magnum Cafe at Grand Indonesia

If you're a chocolate worshipper then you must be familiar with this cafe. It has been an ongoing phenomenon for years ever since it's being released two years ago. The hype of this cafe is still pretty much on top and no wonder because they're serving chocolate, in which I bet, most people love!

Well I gotta admit, one of the many reasons they're surviving is definitely their lovely creations and great chocolate dishes, Magnum chocolate ice creams are made using belgian chocolates (which I love to death) and Magnum cafe is a one unique factory that "manufactured" those chocolates ice creams into a unique yet mesmerizing dishes.

Beware to be visually diabetic!

Waffle de Aristocrat
IDR 45k
My regular order everytime I visit this, I don't even have to look at the menu. I am very fond of the caramelized banana and the waffles, I think they're very moist, must be cooked in a parfait temperature. The waffles are denser, balanced sweet and chewier. Another reason to love this is because I love the idea of using vanilla ice cream to this dish, I am a sweet tooth but when it's overloaded, I must raise the flag. This one is definitely recommended.

Wafel de Liege
IDR 45k
This is on the same range as the "Wafel de Antwerp" displayed below. Just different fruit sides and ice creams. Wafel de Liege's using strawberry and vanilla ice creams, while Wafel de Antwerp's using cherry compote and chocolate ice creams. Both of them are nice to me but I am still more fanatic with the Waffle de Aristrocrat.

Wafel de Antwerp
IDR 45k
Wafel de Antwerp's using chocolate ice cream sticks and cherry compote sauce. Cherry compote sauce is awesome!

Pepites du Chocolat
IDR 45k
On presentation, I personally think this one is the simplest, but it has a very great texture thanks to the crunchy cookies topped with chocolate sauce, yet the chocolate sauce tastes sort of caramelish, which is good! Watch out for their impressive strawberry sauce. I love a little touch of sourness.

Frozen Chocolate
IDR 40k
Belgian chocolate smoothies, that's how I describe it straight to the point. Inside the drink you'll find a hint of extra belgian chocolate sauce. This one is also declared as one of their best sellers, yeah no wonder because the chocolate is very rich but I don't think the sweetness overpowers me so it's a really positive thing. Sometimes, literally, very sweet flavor can be stressful and paranoid in mind. Good job for this one.

Belgian Snow
IDR 35k
If you're a fan of Melon then I'll recommend you to have this. When I paid a visit, I was sort of lucky because the beverages I happened to try were very balanced in sweet, the same thing happening to this beverage :).

Blueberry Emporium
IDR 35k
I'd recommend this one whenever you visit here and wanting to try their beverages. This is not very sweet and this one is also fresh, there's a little glimpse of sourness from the blueberry, overall I am very fond of this beverage!!! and plus it looks dead pretty <3.

Short to say, most food they're serving here are sweet desserts and yes they're made out of chocolate or at least has a little touch of chocolate. Most desserts here are priced for IDR 45k. I'd recommend something sour like lemon ice tea or neutral like water to reduce those feelings after you've been eating tons of chocolate dishes. Trust me, you know what I mean.

Overall, it's always been a nice experience visiting Magnum Cafe!!! Will I come back? Hell yeah! Even though I've tried most of their menus. Maybe I'll start trying their main courses in the future. And oh, make sure you come here a little early or on weekdays because the queue line is freakin crazy during weekends!

Thanks for reading lovely peeps <3. I am obviously visually diabetic right now.

My Pancake, Grand Indonesia.

Once I heard this: "high school friends may last forever". In my case, I'm not in forever, but almost four years after and we are still a group of people who clicked just at the moment we meet face to face. Some of my friends went abroad to extend their study and when they got the chance to return (and they always do...), we always create a small reunion.

The reunion took place at Grand Indonesia, all debating about the restaurant because one didn't want to eat anything japanese, one didn't want to eat anything american, and blah blah blah but since the dessert is fine, we went to My Pancake, Grand Indonesia. I've been here several times but this is probably the first time that I ever put a review on this restaurant. I love the ambience of this restaurant, it's gloomy, it has a proper dim light and if you're wondering, it is right at the venue where the windmill is.

What were we ordering? hhmmm... lots of yummy stuffs.

My Pancake Chocolate Pancake
The good old chocolate pancake with one scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream and lots of chocolate sauce, garnished with one astor.

Unagi Donburi
 Mango Chocolate Pancake
 Salmon Mushroom Pasta
Seafood Marinara Fettucine
 Chicken and Spinach Spaghetti

Well sure this is mine because the dish has more photos taken LOL. I think the food in this restaurant is proper for everyone who wants a good time of eating with a genereous portion. I can't finish the food because the portion is slightly too big for me. I love the idea of making the cream soup more liquid like instead of super creamy ones. The spinach and the chicken are fresh. I recommend this one!

Jakarta Culinary Festival 2012 and a little diary

I went to Jakarta Culinary Festival 2012 yesterday with my sister and one friend, in case you're wondering, the event is located in Grand Indonesia, 5th floor, west mall. I went to this event last year and I always wonder if there's something new to look after: new products, new competiting brands, excited for the cooking class, especially the barista class :).

Honestly, the event is not much different with last year's, I was excepting that there will be more booths of traditional and ethnical food, but since this is 'culinary', it's not about the food itself right, it's everything connected to food, you'll find a lot of cooking class, products exhibition, booths of wine and coffee beverages and I think if you really love culinary and everything connected with food (just like me), this is an event worth to visit,

One thing that really caught my eye is this turkey ice cream, I've been hearing a lot about this and I can't wait to taste it myself. This one costs IDR 25.000.

Not far from the turkey ice cream booth, I found an area with such crowd, and when I looked at the stage, Oh My God! Those two lovely girls are my idols from the first Junior Masterchef, They are Isabella & Sofia Bliss. I love them both, they are very communicative with the audience and they are super duper humble, they smiled and joke a lot with the audience, you know you can feel the humbleness.

<3 <3 <3

I spent around 30 minutes there, all that I bought was a cocoa drink from Delfi (new revolution of low fat chocolate drink LOL) and a pack of Tao Kae Noi for my daily snack at home. Along my way out, I found a very good quote, this is so true for everyone in the whole universe.

The event itself will be held during October 4th 2012 - October 31st 2012 or by the end of the month, so you still have plenty of time to visit the event. For each person or a single ticket is IDR 20.000 and you can also buy one with IDR 50.000, this already includes one glass of cocktail.

Since we can't find anything to eat inside, well there are a few, but we need more to fill these empty stomach, we cross to Plaza Indonesia to find something to eat, and we end up eating some delicious treats at Pancious, and of course, I'm on a mission to make you guys hungry, so here are the pictures :).

The good old Mushroom Penne!
I don't have a lot to say, this is just my signature dish choice everytime I go eating here.

Beef Carbonara Penne. My sister is such a lover of this dish, it's creamy, it's cooked beautifully and the cream sauce is not very cheesy tasting and it's just a lovable one.

Caramelized Banana Single Pancake.
You get the saltiness from the caramelized sauce and the sweetness from the vanilla ice cream, I kinda wish the sauce can be a little thicker, but it's such a blend already.

Both the event and the restaurant are absolutely worth to visit :).
