Canteen Plaza Indonesia

I still remember clearly I once told you that my lunch sometimes costs more than my one or two week internship salary. I'm still on my internship and in the next two weeks, it's going to be all done, can't believe it's going to be two months, time flies. Anyway, since I'm still on my internship, let's just call it internship-lunch-series and we're on our second episode.

Me and Stefanie were so confused on deciding where to eat for lunch (clearly that's the case on most people) because we're stuck on Plaza Senayan, Senayan City, Bakso Lapangan Tembak Senayan and canteen food, but sometimes the canteen food tastes so eergh but what can you expect. We decided to have our lunch at Canteen Plaza Indonesia, this one is not the canteen you have in mind, this one is with capital C which makes it much more special and fancier LOL.

It's located at the fifth floor of Plaza Indonesia and mostly Canteen and Aksara are always joined and side to side, I don't really know if the owner is the same but I assume it is.

I bring one other guest, it's Lykee :).

I'm giving you guys a little tour of Canteen, it's interior is semi-vintage with major touch of woods, dim lighting but awesomely comfortable. I'd recommend having lunch here more than dinner because it tends to get very dark (personally I love bubbly light restaurants, sometimes also depends on mood), but if you love dark places with super low lights, when you can barely look at your own food, then this one's perfect for you.

LET'S SURF THE FOOD AND BEVERAGES!
I tend to get super sleepy when it comes to the internship days because I realized that I am now more insomniac than ever, sometimes I even slept at 4 AM and I have to wake up early. Imagine how many hours I only get to sleep?! I get super duper exhausted during the day, I need a major caffeine injection to survive. I ordered the Iced Caramel Macchiato. For me, this one tastes more like one at Bakoel Coffee, especially the caramel syrup they're using.

Iced Caramel Macchiato
IDR 35.000 (before tax)

Chicken Cordon Bleu
IDR 85.000 (before tax)

I love this dish, I love how cripsy and crunchy the skin of the Cordon Bleu is, I'd say that this is very well cooked and the fries OMG one of the best I've ever had!!! Sometimes the simplest things like Fries just makes me so freakin happy. I gotta give credit for the mushroom brown sauce because it actually contains real mushroom on big chunks!

Lychee Ice Tea
IDR 30.000 (before tax)

Fresh! That's how I describe this beverage, well technically it's almost like the common Lychee Ice Tea you probably have ever had in your life. Still, it's fresh!

Pan Seared Salmon with Asparagus, Quiche Lorraine, Hollandaise Sauce and cherry tomatoes.
IDR 110.000 (before tax)

HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST!
They make the salmon skin to be saltier than other salmon dishes that I've tried before, but it's a good thing, it actually add up the flavor play and I love it, also the skin is super crunchy and the salmon is so perfectly cooked, the only bad thing is I kinda wish the portion was bigger, why are most good food only come in small portions??!! I am Indonesian and most importantly I am human, I sometimes want generous portion of food, sometimes pretty is not enough. #majorLOL

I highly recommend Canteen if you're looking for a place to have your lunch or even dinner. I love how comfy the place is and the vibe is something that I prefer. We spend around IDR 315.000, that's the price for two heads. I will recommend you bringing more than IDR 100k or else you will have your meal but you won't have any beverages with you. Guaranteed.
